Introducing the Tsunami Wave Riders!
Winner of “Best Country Artist” - Charlotte Music Awards, Winner of “Top Beach Band in North America” – Rising Star Awards, Winner of “Best World Music Artist” - Charlotte Music Awards, Winner of “Single of the Year” - Hawaii Music Awards
Although our founders are originally from Hawaii, the band was founded in Charlotte, NC, back in 2005 by Ronnie Tsunami (keyboards, ukulele and vocals), Joanna 'Tropical Lady' (double-second steel drums), and Keilani Wingard (lead steel drum). Over the years our ohana (family) has grown to include amazing world-class musicians including Arda 'Big Kahuna' Bagcioglu on guitar and ukulele, Angela 'Leilani' Jackson on lapsteel guitar and percussion, 'CocoNater" Andrews on bass, and "Book'em Danno" Ross on drums. We've also been blessed to have the Aloha Island Hula Girls join us for a truly unique "rock around the islands" experience.
The name, "Tsunami Wave Riders," comes from our belief that everyone faces "tsunamis," huge waves that threaten to drown us, and that we must learn how to ride those waves and help others. We try to take audiences "to the islands" through music to put them in a happier state of mind, even if it's just for a few hours, and also spread those good vibes to their family and friends too.
As part of our mission, we've raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities and non-profits who help people to ride the waves no matter how big they get. If you have an organization that wants our help with a fundraiser, please contact us.
